Jimmy Fallon: Dan Marino

JIMMY FALLON: Former NFL quarterback Dan Marino - have you heard about this? - he's admitted to fathering a secret child back in 2005. I don't know why people are surprised. The Dolphins never gave him good protection.

...

Actually, this weekend is not only the Super Bowl. It is also Groundhog Day. Of course, this year is a little different. If the groundhog sees his shadow, it means six more kids for Dan Marino.

Donald Driver Retires

Donald Driver knows how to retire from playing professional football - with class.

From the Green Bay Press-Gazette:

Donald Driver, one of the most popular and productive receivers in Green Bay Packers history, has decided to retire.

The team announced his decision this morning, and Driver will make a formal announcement next week during a ceremony that will be open to the public.

It will take place Wednesday at the Lambeau Field Atrium at 11 a.m.

“I played my entire career in Green Bay and have always enjoyed a special bond with the fans,” said Driver. “I can think of no better way to retire than to celebrate with them and the Packers organization.”

...Driver is the Packers' all-time leader in receptions (743) and yards (10,137) and will go down as one of the great success stories in franchise history.
Unquestionably, Driver stands as one of the greatest players in Packers history.

Fans are invited to attend the event on Wednesday. Here's info:

Fans are invited to the announcement. A limited number of tickets, free of charge, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in person at the Packers’ ticket office at Lambeau Field, beginning at 9 a.m. Friday. Distribution will be limited to four tickets per person.
Of course, I'm sorry to see Donald retire. I'll miss him, but he'll be around. When you're a "Packer for life," you don't go away.

Best wishes to Donald and his beautiful family!

Thanks for the sweet memories!

Piers Morgan: Barrett and Clarke (Video)

Tom Barrett, Milwaukee's mayor, surfaced on Tuesday. He came out of hiding to appear on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight, along with Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke.

Of course, Barrett knew that Morgan was his ally. He had nothing to fear, kind of like Obama and Hillary Clinton sitting down with Steve Kroft. Morgan wasn't "going to play gotcha with Barrett."

Clarke, on the other hand, was in hostile territory.

Here's video:

From Mediaite:
Morgan told Clarke that by using a “Hollywood voice” a la John Wayne which took away from the real life seriousness of the situation. Clarke then responded to Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett, also on the CNN panel, who criticized Clarke for sounding “irresponsible.” Clarke pointed to a lack of resources available to him, some a result of the mayor’s policies, and how not all 911 calls are responded to in a swift manner.

Morgan directly asked Clarke how many instances there have been of people in Milwaukee defending themselves with firearms. Clarke said he does not have statistics, to which Morgan responded, “You haven’t got a clue, have you?” He berated Clarke for his irresponsible statements, citing an instance of a Milwaukee woman who fired a gun in front of a house and tried to get out of trouble by pointing to what he said.
“You want to arm everybody in Milwaukee. You do these racy Hollywood-style adverts, you want them all out there, armed and shooting… What you’re creating is a return to the Wild West in Milwaukee. So I think it’s actually relevant that you don’t have any idea how many people actually need a firearm at home to defend themselves.”
Clarke asked Morgan, “Are we going to have an honest exchange here or are you just going to talk over me?” He insisted it’s a “personal choice” whether or not someone decides to own a gun to defend themselves, to which Morgan shot back by saying it goes beyond personal choice for a sheriff of any city to advocate citizens arming themselves.
Morgan doesn't have a clue about life in Milwaukee.

Completely clueless. What does Leftist Brit Morgan know, other than what his Leftist staff tell him?

Barrett has been mayor of Milwaukee for ten years. He's been a miserable failure.

Morgan didn't question Barrett about the decay in Milwaukee on his watch, demanding accountability from him on crime, unemployment, and the failing schools. He's a horrible journalist.

I understand why his ratings are so low.

James T. Harris: Cornball Brothers

James T. Harris has a great article up on Right Wisconsin, "Corn Ball Brothas Have The X Factor."

What's a "cornball brother"?

According to the Urban Dictionary a cornball brother is:
a. An African American male who chooses not to follow the stereotype. This includes, but is not limited to, being educated, well spoken, a role model, a leader, selfless, an upstanding member of the community and above all - humble.

b. life choices include marrying white women, being republican, and not being "down with the cause".

c. a rare breed of African American males who should be praised, not chastised by their own race.

d. a term where MLK would be rolling over his grave for
Presently there are two, possibly three “cornball brothas” in the NFL: Robert Griffin III of the Washington Redskins, Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, and Packer Killer Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers.

What else is different about “cornballs?” What is that X factor that makes RG3 and Russell Wilson “all work, no play, in bed by 9:00 and up by 6:00” type of leader?
Harris identifies the X factor:
The X factor missing from the Urban Dictionary definition and in too many black children’s lives is….
e. a father.
Yes, a father. What a concept!

It's politically incorrect to acknowledge the important role a father plays in a family. However, it's completely acceptable to view government in that role - protector, provider, enforcer, moral compass.

It's a twisted society that scoffs at traditional values.

Harris writes:

Our society has long diminished the role of fathers in the lives of their children. Leave it to the NFL to highlight fatherhood’s glorious role and potential!

This football season welcomed the next wave of Millennial age black quarterbacks to the NFL. They are poised, skilled and wise beyond their years. They are confident in their skills, humble, and disciplined. They come from strong families and exude a strong quiet faith.

They are role models of leadership and have garnered the respect of their teammates and millions of fans… except those who still question their blackness.

Somewhere between Dr. King and President Obama, the content of one’s character lost to the color of one’s skin… and to the culture it represents! It’s the culture, stupid, and the culture is sick.
The American culture in general is sick, but I don't think it's hopeless. We haven't quite reached the edge of the abyss.

The fact is the War on Poverty backfired. There were unintended consequences, like the systematic dismantling of the family. Instead of helping, government policies devastated generations.

I wish Obama would use his bully pulpit and encourage cornball brothers, hold them up as the role models they are. He could make a profound difference. Unfortunately, Obama is too focused on his cool guy status to take that risk.

We need a cornball revolution. Sadly, I don't expect to find its leader in the White House. Look for leaders in your neighborhood and church, and follow.

Sheriff David Clarke: Guns and 911

Late last week while listening to the radio, I heard Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke's ad encouraging gun owners to take a safety course to learn to use their firearm safely and effectively.

The first time I heard the ad I knew it was going to cause a controversy, and it has.

On Monday, Clarke appeared on CNN and FOX News to discuss his public service announcement. Drudge linked to the story in the Los Angeles Times.

I believe Clarke knew exactly what he was doing. He knew what he was saying in the ad would get national attention.

Here's the audio of the PSA:

Transcript:
SHERIFF DAVID CLARKE: I'm Sheriff David Clarke and I want to talk to you about something personal: your safety. It's no longer a spectator sport; I need you in the game. But are you ready? With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. You can beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back. But are you prepared? Consider taking a certified safety course in handling a firearm so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family.
Clarke's message that it's wise to take a "certified safety course" is a good suggestion. It's responsible and appropriate.

What I thought would make people flip out is Clarke's assertion that "simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option." That is somewhat unnerving.

The Sheriff is recommending that the best option is for people to be armed. Given that officers have been laid off and furloughed, calling 911 isn't good enough. That's scary to hear from a law enforcement official.

Is he correct? I suppose so.

If a violent, gun-toting criminal broke into my home and threatened my family, we would be helpless until help arrived if we didn't have a gun. We would be at the mercy of the bad guy. Response time is something to consider. That's a fact.

Clarke shouldn't be condemned for stating that truth.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (3-time loser in the Wisconsin gubernatorial race) reacted to the ad predictably.
[Clarke's] message was not well received by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D), who said apparently Clarke “is auditioning for the next ‘Dirty Harry’ movie.” Barrett called it “troubling” that Clarke sounded like he was dissuading people from calling 911, saying he wants people to call 911 in an emergency. He said Clarke succeeded in his goal of “getting a lot of attention and publicity.”
Typical Barrett crap.

In no way is Clarke dissuading people from calling 911. Clarke's message deals with what to do before law enforcement arrives to a crime scene. He never says calling 911 isn't necessary.

However, it's disingenuous to say that Clarke isn't promoting gun ownership. In the ad, he calls it a "duty" for people to protect themselves. He's not talking about locking the doors and windows. He's talking about having a gun and knowing how to use it, to "fight back" against an intruder.

I think one of the most troubling things about the current gun debate in this country is the lack of honesty, on both sides.

Wisconsin School Choice Week

This is National School Choice Week.

The Heritage Foundation offers some interesting facts about the benefits of school choice.

School choice is something to celebrate, because it gives families the power to choose the best schools for their children—helping children to improve educational outcomes and increasing overall parental satisfaction.
School Choice Students Graduate at Higher Rates

School Choice Means Academic Gains

Parents Are More Satisfied with their Child’s Academic Experience
Gov. Scott Walker issued a proclamation declaring Wisconsin School Choice Week.
Ushering in a week of events supporting school choice across the country, Gov. Scott Walker has signed a proclamation officially recognizing this last week in January "Wisconsin School Choice Week," according to a news release.

School choice advocates support giving parents more choices over where to send their children to school. Most support expanding educational options beyond the traditional public school system, such as by allowing children to use taxpayer-funded vouchers to attend private, including religious, schools, or by encouraging public charter schools that operate with more independence from districts.

This third annual National School Choice Week has been heavily promoted, and thousands of events across the country have been planned.

The festivities coincide with the start of a new legislative session in Wisconsin where voucher schools are expected to be a hotly debated educational issue. Lawmakers could be deciding whether to increase funding for voucher schools, whether to expand vouchers to more cities in Wisconsin, or how to better regulate their quality.

The organizers of National School Choice Week have put together a "whistle-stop train tour" to cities across the country that will feature a breakfast and rally in Milwaukee at the Grain Exchange on Wednesday morning.
Rachel Sheffield sums up school choice very well:
Education comes in many forms—from private school choice to online learning, to charter schools and public schools and home schooling. Parents should be empowered to give their children the education that best meets their child’s unique learning needs. School choice makes this possible by giving families from every background the ability to set the course for the brightest educational future for their children.
The Leftists, with Obama leading the charge, are waging war on school CHOICE.

That's no surprise, given the Democrat/union cabal; but that makes it no less disgraceful.

Children are suffering because of the quest for power. It's utterly selfish.

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME, school choice opponents.

Not coincidentally, National School Choice Week coincides with Catholic Schools Week, an annual event since 1974.

Giving our children the best education possible is a common goal among conservatives and liberals, right?

It should be, but it isn't. Actions speak louder than words.

However, the rabid opposition by Leftists to school CHOICE certainly reveals that what's best for the children is trumped by what's best for the unions and the Democrats.

SNL: Martin Luther King, Jr. and Obama (Video)

Saturday Night Live's cold open was a little weird.

It was Inauguration night, the festivities over, and Obama (Jay Pharoah) was sitting alone in the White House having a beer.

Then, the ghost of Martin Luther King, Jr. (Kenan Thompson) appeared.

Obama wanted to talk about weighty matters. King was more interested in talking about Beyonce. He was yapping about Michelle's bangs. This was not King, the great moral leader. This was King the buffoon.

Funny or inappropriate?

I'm not allowed to judge. I'm white and politically conservative. If I comment, I'll be called a racist.

I do think it's funny that the SNL Leftists are more comfortable mocking Martin Luther King than Obama.

Obama: Recess Appointments Unconstitutional

Once upon a time, the United States of America had three branches of government.

The self-proclaimed king named Obama, leader of a cult, decided to ignore the separation of powers.

In an attempt to rein in this arrogant man, the judicial branch declared his behavior in violation of the Constitution.

That's big stuff.

If President George W. Bush had done what King Obama did, something no American president has ever done before, declaring the Senate to be in recess, the Leftists would be all over it.

From the Washington Times:

In a case freighted with major constitutional implications, a federal appeals court on Friday overturned President Obama’s controversial recess appointments from last year, ruling he abused his powers and acted when the Senate was not actually in a recess.

The three-judge panel’s ruling is a major blow to Mr. Obama. The judges ruled that the appointments he made to the National Labor Relations Board are illegal, and hence the five-person board did not have a quorum to operate.

But the ruling has even broader constitutional significance, with the judges arguing that the president’s recess appointment powers don’t apply to “intra-session” appointments — those made when Congress has left town for a few days or weeks. They said Mr. Obama erred when he said he could claim the power to determine when he could make appointments.

“Allowing the president to define the scope of his own appointments power would eviscerate the Constitution’s separation of powers,” the judges said in their opinion.

The judges said presidents’ recess powers only apply after Congress has adjourned a session permanently, which in modern times usually means only at the end of a year. If the ruling withstands Supreme Court scrutiny, it would dramatically constrain presidents in the future.

And the court ruled that the only vacancies that the president can use his powers on are ones that arise when the Senate is in one of those end-of-session breaks. That would all but eliminate the list of positions the president could fill with his recess powers.

...Noel Francisco, a lawyer at Jones Day who argued the case for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the company that challenged the NLRB appointments, said the court had returned to the Constitution’s intent, which was to make the recess appointment an emergency power for use only when Congress was not available.

“Issues like this — it’s not about protecting the Congress from the president and the president from Congress,” Mr. Francisco said. “The Constitution draws these lines ultimately to limit the government to protect the people.”
Will the U.S. Supreme Court allow the ruling to stand?

Perhaps, if Chief Justice John Roberts can figure out a way to define it as a tax.

Whatever, King Obama pushed it too far when he declared the Senate to be in recess.

Bottom line: If the Constitution is still the law of the land, if King Obama is bound by any limits of law, he abused his authority.

Ron Johnson and Hillary Clinton (Video)

Hillary Clinton FINALLY testified on the 9/11/12 terrorist attack in Benghazi, killing our ambassador and three other Americans.

In response to a question from Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, Hillary flipped out. The theatrics failed to deflect from the reality that she didn't answer his question.

Apparently, Hillary believes WHY four Americans were killed is irrelevant.

Here's video:

HILLARY CLINTON: With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night decided to go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make?
Hillary goes on to say, "It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, Senator."

In other words, IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Hillary sounds like a fool. She looks like a fool.

Misleading the American people MATTERS, and that's what she and Susan Rice and Jay Carney and the Obama administration and Obama himself did. Lying matters. It matters to me.

We know Hillary gets angry when someone has told her lies. We know she throws lamps when she's mad.

The fact is, with all due respect, she's blind or stupid or deceptive in managing her personal life and in carrying out her duties in public service.

Obviously, Hillary doesn't have the demeanor or the skill or the character to be president of the United States. She's not up to the task of taking that 3:00 AM phone call and responding appropriately.

Crying, yelling, pounding the table, and flailing her arms don't accomplish anything.

I think Republicans have material for their first ad for the 2016 presidential election.

Happy 40th Anniversary, BABY!

This ad, from the Center for Reproductive Rights, is absolutely disgusting, everything about it.

(Hat tip Brian Fraley, RedState)

"Oh, hey, BABY. Did you think I forgot? I didn't forget. How could I ever forget our anniversary?"

The winking, the smirking, the creepy, demonic laughing -- unbelievable. The racial undertones are disturbing as well.

I don't see how this ad could appeal to anyone.

Repeatedly referring to Roe v. Wade as "baby" is shockingly insensitive and callous.

"Show your love" for abortion?

Truly sick.

Democrats and Roe v. Wade: 'It Was a Great Day For Women'

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee exploits the slaughter of the unborn for its political gain.

It's sick.

Mary — Forty years ago today, the monumental Roe v. Wade decision made abortion safe and legal.

It was a great day for women across our country. But every single day since, Republicans have fought to chip away at abortion rights.

Their GOP Platform now pledges to completely restrict all abortions, and Republicans have continuously voted to defund women’s health programs to make it happen. Today, the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade should remind us to never stop fighting!

If your support for a woman’s right to an abortion is unwavering, click here and show your support for Roe v. Wade. Today, let’s get 100,000 grassroots signatures and show the Republicans that we’ll never let up on abortion rights!

Thanks for your help,
Julia Ager
DSCC Rapid Response
The Dems say, "It was a great day for women across our country."

It wasn't a great day for the tens of millions of female babies lost to abortion.

Do these pro-abortion advocates ever think about the millions upon millions of women never allowed to be born? Do they ever think about the impact those millions and millions lives may have had?

Forty years of death is nothing to celebrate.

Roe v. Wade: 40 Years Later

Feet of a 10-week-old fetus

During his first term as president, Obama broke promise after promise. One thing he never wavered on was his radical anti-life, pro-abortion stance.

On the campaign trail in 2008, he made no secret of the fact that he would not protect the weak, the vulnerable, and the unborn.

OBAMA: I've got two daughters — 9 years old and 6 years old. I'm gonna teach them first of all about values and morals. But, if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby.

PASTOR RICK WARREN: At what point does a baby get human rights, in your view?

OBAMA: Well, you know, I think that whether you're looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, uh, answering that question with specificity, uh, you know is, is, uh, above my pay grade.

Obama began his assault on human life within days after assuming office in 2009.

On January 23, 2009, Obama signed an executive order to overturn the "Mexico City Policy."

Obama is the most radical pro-abortion president in our history.

He considers a human life to be a "punishment."

I can't grasp what it's like to think of a new life in those terms, that it's expendable when inconvenient, that it's a cruel burden.

Over fifty-five million precious, innocent lives have been aborted since Roe v. Wade. They were never allowed to take their first breath let alone grow up. They were killed before having the chance to know what it's like to love and be loved.

Their mothers made the choice not to be "punished" rather than cradle their babies in their arms.

Do you think of your being, the gift of life, as a "punishment"?

Obama does.

The past 40 years have been marked by death, murder on demand.

The loss of life ushered in by Roe v. Wade is so overwhelming it's difficult to comprehend.

The pro-abortion proponents, like Obama, are celebrating today.

I am not. I cannot celebrate the slaughter.

Today, I'm mourning 55,000,000 lives.

Scott Walker: 'Protect Life Day'

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has proclaimed today "Protect Life Day."

View the proclamation here.

Read the proclamation:

WHEREAS; 40 years have elapsed since the infamous January 22, 1973, U.S. Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion for any reason for the full nine months of pregnancy in all of the United States; and

WHEREAS; it is the first and primary duty of the government to protect its citizens, a role which the Court usurped from the states; and

WHEREAS; more than 55 million unborn children have expired from abortions nationally, a human rights abuse unprecedented in American history; and

WHEREAS; more than 540,000 of Wisconsin's unborn children are lost to Wisconsin families, and their skills and talents are lost to the state of Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS; countless mothers, fathers, families, and society as a whole have suffered devastating consequences from this wholesale destruction of human life; and

WHEREAS; the future of our state and country depend on protection of the weakest members of the human family;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Scott Walker, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, January 22, 2013, as

PROTECT LIFE DAY

throughout the state of Wisconsin and I commend this observance to all of our citizens.
"[M]ore than 55 million unborn children have expired from abortions nationally, a human rights abuse unprecedented in American history."

Does that reality haunt the supporters of "choice"?

How can they ignore the SCIENCE of human development?

Embracing the Culture of Death is a horrific act.

Our mission for every day should be to protect life.

Blog for Choice Day 2013

Tomorrow is Blog for Choice Day 2013.

It's a NARAL event.

On January 22, 2013 – the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade– we invite pro-choice bloggers and activists to join us for the eighth annual Blog for Choice Day!

Blog for Choice Day gets more people reading and talking about reproductive rights online on one of the most important days surrounding a woman’s right to choose: the anniversary of the historic Roe v. Wade decision, when the Supreme Court ruled that abortion should be legal. Your participation in Blog for Choice Day lets your readers and the mainstream media know that a woman's right to choose is a core progressive value that must be protected.

As you know, reproductive rights were a critical issue in the presidential election. Thanks to you, we helped re-elect pro-choice President Barack Obama and defeated some of the most extreme and outspoken anti-choice candidates. But our opponents aren’t backing down, and we need to be ready for any attempt to take away women’s access to safe, legal abortion and birth control.

It’s our personal stories that change hearts and minds about the importance of always protecting a woman’s right to choose. That’s why this year we’re asking you to share your story about why you’re pro-choice.

Sign up below to let us know that you plan to write a blog post on January 22 about why you’re pro-choice. We will also promote your blog through our outreach efforts to our supporters.

Personal stories about killing one's unborn child?

Those will "change hearts and minds about the importance of always protecting a woman’s right to choose"?

Good grief.

The fact is protecting "choice" means protecting the slaughter of the unborn. "Choosing" abortion is "choosing" to kill.

I don't say that as an "extreme and outspoken anti-choice" person. I say it because it's REALITY.

Let's be honest about the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

This really is about celebrating the killing of human life. Tens of millions of unique human beings have been slaughtered under the guise of CHOICE.

To counter this perverse celebration, people who respect life and value the unborn are responding to "Blog for Choice Day" with "Ask Them What They Mean When They Say 'Choice' Blog Day."

Jill Stanek writes:
Every year NARAL uses the anniversary of the day abortion was legalized throughout the United States to promote "choice."

And for the last two years pro-lifers have not let them get away with obfuscating what that "choice" actually is.

We devote the day online to calling abortion proponents out - writing our own blog posts on the real meaning of "choice," commenting on their blog posts, and questioning all their Facebook and Twitter blather.

We will also make good use of their designated Twitter hashtag, #Tweet4Choice.
The use of the word "choice" by the pro-abortion movement is so insidious. It's cowardly.

If they're so proud to support the killing of the unborn, why are they afraid to be clear about what it is they're "choosing"? Why hide the reality of abortion by softening the language?

"Choice" means killing a unique, one and only, human life.

If one is pro-choice, one is pro-abortion. "Choice" equals death, the mother's "choice" to intentionally kill her unborn child.

That's what it means.

Let's not play word games.

Let's be honest.

NARAL is promoting "Blog for Killing the Unborn Day."

FACT: "Choice" means choosing death for one's child.

The anniversary of Roe v. Wade is the darkest of days. It stands as a reminder of over 55 MILLION birthdays never celebrated.

Obama's 2nd Inauguration: Observations

I did not plan on watching live any of Obama's 2nd inauguration. Too depressing.

I changed my mind.

I always watch the inauguration of the president. It's a moment when I'm moved by the greatness of my beloved country. So, I did watch - from the invocation to the benediction.

Some thoughts--

Michelle's bangs - She has a different hairstyle. So what?

Michelle's coat - A little snug. It looked very uncomfortable. The sleeves were so binding.

The Obama daughters looked very nice and so did Michelle's mother.

Enough about fashion.

After Joe Biden stumbled through the oath, administered by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, he leaned over and kissed her.

Did he say, "This is a big f---ing deal"?

When it was Obama's turn to take the oath, Chief Justice John Roberts did the swearing in, a public event repeated after yesterday's private ceremony.

Roberts really bugs me. Let's all remember ObamaCare is law because Roberts decided it was a tax. ObamaCare is a TAX. Obama is the taxer-in-chief, and not just on the rich.

When Obama swore to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution," I gagged. King Obama, the imperial president, has shredded the Constitution. Religious liberty? Not for all, not for Catholics.

I found Obama's inaugural address to be utterly uninspiring at best. At worst, it was hypocritical and offensive, taking jabs at his political enemies.

Transcript here.

Of course, Obama's speech was riddled with his usual class warfare crap and a warped view of the American Dream.

This line was outrageous: "We cannot mistake absolutism for principle or substitute spectacle for politics, or treat name-calling as reasoned debate."

GOOD GRIEF!

Obama has taken presidential political spectacle and name-calling to unprecedented heights.

Sickening.

When Obama spoke of our inalienable rights - "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," when he talked about protecting our innocent children and the weak, I thought of his complete disregard for the most innocent and vulnerable among us - the unborn.

Obama, the most radical pro-abortion president in American history, doesn't protect life. He doesn't respect it.

I heard nothing new from Obama. He didn't challenge Americans. He did't encourage us to achieve. His words didn't point to any goals. Obama simply reiterated his stale lines. His view of freedom is being a slave to a massive, central government.

No, thank you.

Obama Inauguration: Reaction

Is this funny or scary?

From The Blaze:

President Barack Obama’s second inauguration was “awesome,” “moving” and “you know, part of history.” Vice President Joe Biden even cried.

Too bad it hasn’t happened yet.

But that small detail didn’t stop people from sounding off in front of ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel’s cameras on what they thought of Obama’s second swearing-in — days before it actually took place.

“It was awesome,” one woman said. “It was, you know, part of history. It was really nice to see him up there, getting his second term. Proud of him.”

She really liked Obama’s speech, particularly him “talking about what he’s going to do for us, not what he’s going to do for the other countries, what he’s going to do for America.”

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Today, we celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Text of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, August 28, 1963, Lincoln Memorial, Washington, D.C.

If Dr. King were still alive, he'd be 84. I wonder how  he would react to the playing of the race card, and the ridiculous, unfounded charges of racism so unfairly applied, and the ever-growing list of allegedly racial "code words."

Would he condemn that behavior?

I hope so.

Would he engage in it?

I hope not.

I like to think that Dr. King would not be an advocate of the soft bigotry of low expectations.

I like to think that he would not approve of the culture of dependency.

I like to think that Dr. King would encourage freedom, personal responsibility, and opportunities to determine one's lot in life rather than supporting the subjugation of the people to a massive, centralized government.

I'm happy to report that Matt Damon is a fool. He was dead wrong in predicting back in 2008 that it was likely John McCain would die before January 2013.

Recall, from September 10, 2008:

Allow me to summarize Matt Damon's prediction of America's future if John McCain and Sarah Palin are elected:

McCain is going to die very soon. Palin, clueless "hockey mom" from Alaska, will become president, a mom as leader of the free world. It will be a living nightmare. The reality in store for the country is like a bad Disney movie.

Transcript from NewsBusters:

I think there is a really good chance that Sarah Palin could president. And I think that's a really scary thing because I don't know anything about her. I don't think in eight weeks I'm going to know anything about her. I know that she was a mayor of a really, really small town. And she's governor of Alaska for less than two years. I just don't understand... I think the pick was made for political purposes but in terms of governance it's a disaster.

You do the actuary tables and there's a one out of three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn't survive his first term and it will be President Palin. And it really...we were talking about it earlier...it's like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom. "I'm just a hockey mom from Alaska." And she's the president. And it's like she's facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It's absurd. It's totally absurd. And I don't understand why more people aren't talking about how absurd it is. It's a really terrifying possibility. The fact that we've gotten this far and we're that close to this being a reality is crazy, crazy.

I need to know if she really thinks dinosaurs were here 4000 years ago, that's an important...I want to know that. I really do. Because she's going to have the nuclear codes. I want to know if she thinks dinosaurs were here 4000 years ago. Or if she banned books or tried to ban books. We can't have that.

Damon displays the arrogance and condescension of so many of Barack Obama's Hollywood supporters. This is how the Hollywood elite think.

More slamming of conservative women, faith, and small town, hard-working Americans...

Talk about being out of touch!

This is just a reminder of what a buffoon Damon is.

I hope he sends John McCain a card on his birthday.

Manti Te'o

The Manti Te'o story:

I want to know the truth about Benghazi.

The 9/11/12 terrorist attack on our consulate in Libya resulting in the assassination of our ambassador and three other Americans matters.

Obama and his minions lied to us. They engaged in a cover-up. That's important.

Manti Te'o and his hoax girlfriend or whatever doesn't matter to me.

Yes, it's weird. But why this obsession?

It's tabloid stuff.

If Te'o is lying, it makes no difference to me. If he's a gullible idiot, it doesn't matter.

I don't care.

Lance Armstrong: LIAR

Lance Armstrong is a liar.

He wants absolution. If he is to salvage his "good name," he needs absolution.

Enter almighty Oprah.

She gave Armstrong the opportunity to fess up to his sins while he allowed her to reap the ratings that have eluded her.

Here's video.

Is all forgiven?

I didn't watch the televised confession because I don't care.

Years ago, I considered Armstrong an inspirational figure; but the doping allegations tarnished that.

Armstrong was no longer relevant to me. He's not relevant now.

Oprah is not relevant as far as I'm concerned.

I just don't care.

If the post-Bill Clinton era has taught us anything, it's that corruption and lies don't permanently disgrace the rich and famous.

Armstrong is a loser. He should just go away.

Obama: Guns and Executive Orders

I watched Obama's address on GUN CONTROL this morning.

I saw the children there, being exploited as props.

I saw the audience of Obama supporters, applauding his proposals.

Obama had on his serious face.

The stage was set. The performers emoted.

I didn't hear anything that Obama proposed that would have prevented the recent mass shootings.

I did hear a load of hypocrisy. Obama wants to fund "resource officers" in schools. He wants more police on the streets.

In other words, he believes ARMED protection is important in ensuring the safety of Americans.

The way to limit "gun violence" is with more guns. OK.

It bothered me that Obama kept exploiting the horrific Newton shootings. The fact is no background check would have stopped what Adam Lanza did. He stole the guns he used from his mother. He murdered her. HE BROKE THE LAW. No ruling from King Obama, no law passed by Congress, can stop people from disregarding them if they choose.

I wish it were possible to keep guns out of the hands of mentally ill and evil individuals. I don't think it is. Those wishing to do harm to others can accomplish their goal.

What I found most disturbing about Obama's dance was his politicization of the problem.

Blaming Congress (aka Republicans) and talk radio and the NRA for gun violence in America is shameful. Blame the killers, Obama.

Obama kept yapping about protecting our children. This from the most radical pro-abortion president in our nation's history.

Respect life? Obama has two faces.

Obama blathered on and on about our "rights." He's the alleged defender of the 2nd Amendment and our inalienable rights.

Really?

Obama declared war on Catholics and stripped us of our religious liberty. Are we really supposed to buy that this imperial president is defending our freedom?

Obama's penchant for executive rulings, his bypassing of Congress and refusing to be bound by our Constitution's checks and balances, is beyond troubling.

Bottom line: Those people bent on murdering others are going to do it. Obama's "executive actions" won't impact them.

I didn't hear Obama address the real problem - the breakdown of the family and the lack of sound moral values in our society. I didn't hear Obama talk about right and wrong, good and bad, in terms of people's behavior. Yes, he spoke of getting the CDC to "study" the effects of violent video games on people; but that's a waste. That's nothing but window dressing.

It's time to address the reality that our country is no longer grounded in moral values.

Until Obama and his cohorts admit that the fault lies in the actions of twisted individuals rather than inanimate objects, nothing will change.

Jimmy Kimmel - New Time

Jimmy Kimmel Live! has a new, earlier time slot, moving to 10:35PM CT. He's in direct competition with Jay Leno and David Letterman now.

Great news!

I haven't watched the detestable Letterman for years, so I've endured Leno's stale monologues and lame "comedy" bits.

Finally, that's over.

Oh, wait. It's not.

The Milwaukee market will not see that change in the late night line-up.

From the Business Journal:

Jimmy Kimmel will be available in most of the country immediately after local TV stations’ late newscast, but in Milwaukee viewers will need to wait until 11 p.m.

Rather than airing “Jimmy Kimmel Live” at 10:35, Milwaukee ABC affiliate WISN-TV (Channel 12) will continue running its hour-long 10 p.m. weeknight newscast. The station will delay Kimmel until 11 p.m. when his show debuts in its new time slot Tuesday, Jan. 8. Kimmel's show has been running on ABC at 11:25 after "Nightline," which is switching to midnight.

The main reason Kimmel won’t appear here until 11 p.m. is the success of Channel 12’s hour-long 10 p.m. newscast, WISN president and general manager Jan Wade told me.

“We don’t want to abandon something that’s a strength for us,” Wade told me.

The 10:30 segment of the Channel 12 late news actually attracts the highest household ratings in its time slot against “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on WTMJ-TV (Channel 4), “The Late Show with David Letterman” on WDJT-TV (Channel 58) and “Seinfeld” on WITI-TV (Channel 6). The WISN news ranked second to “Seinfeld” in the key 25-to-54-year-old demographic.
Oh, well.

11:00PM is better than midnight.

Fallone Signed Walker Recall Petition

Marquette University Law professor Ed Fallone, a Leftist, believes he belongs on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Democrats are no doubt buoyed by the revelation that Fallone signed the petition to recall Gov. Scott Walker. It certainly helps solidify Fallone's anti-Walker cred.

From Media Trackers:

Professor Fallone, considered by most to be the front runner to oppose Justice Roggensack, authored a blog post in March of 2012 defending the right of judges to sign recall petitions after a Gannett investigation exposed 29 Wisconsin judges who signed the Walker recall. Fallone’s blog post, titled “Signing a Recall Petition Does Not Require Judicial Recusal,” spelled out Fallone’s belief that “There is no explicit provision that prohibits judges from signing a recall petition or that mandates that they recuse themselves from any politically charged case if they have done so.”

Despite Fallone’s belief that recall signing judges should not recuse themselves, Mark Levin’s Landmark Legal Foundation filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Judicial Commission arguing that “This inherently political activity implies that these judges are endorsing, if not promoting, Governor Walker’s recall and calls into question the impartiality and judicial ethics of each signing circuit judge under the Code of Judicial Conduct.”
I am so tired of elections, but giving in to the fatigue is not an option.

Justice Patience Roggensack simply cannot be replaced by the liberal Fallone, political tool.

Obama: 'We Don’t Have a Spending Problem'

According to John Boehner, Obama is tired of hearing people saying that we have a spending problem.

From Ben Shapiro, Breitbart's Big Government:

In an interview with Stephen Moore of the Wall Street Journal, newly re-elected House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) opened up about President Obama’s utter unwillingness to cut a single dollar from federal spending. In a stunning admission, Obama reportedly told Boehner, “We don’t have a spending problem.”

Boehner added that President Obama continues to maintain that America’s federal deficit is caused not by governmental overspending but by “a health-care problem.” Said Boehner, “They blame all of the fiscal woes on our health-care system.” Boehner told Obama, “Clearly we have a health-care problem, which is about to get worse with Obamacare. But, Mr. President, we have a very serious spending problem.” Obama eventually replied, “I’m getting tired of hearing you say that.”
This is scary.

Four more years of "We don't have a spending problem."

It's so discouraging. It's depressing. No hope.

Al Roker: White House Shart

This definitely falls in the "too much information" category.

From TMZ:

[Al] Roker -- who got his stomach stapled in March 2002 -- shared his most embarrassing moment on "Dateline" last night, saying he was covering an event at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave a month after his operation ... when he felt the urge to let one rip.

Roker said, "I probably went off and ate something I wasn't supposed to. And as I'm walking to the press room, [I'm thinking] well, I gotta pass a little gas here. I'm walking by myself. Who's gonna know? Only a little something extra came out. I pooped my pants."

Roker said he beelined for the restroom to dump his underwear in the trash -- and proceeded to go commando the rest of the day.
Why share this?

Good grief.

Seriously, why share this incident with a national television audience?

Inappropriate.

Here's video.

Graeme Zielinski, Paul Ryan, and Catholics

Graeme Zielinski, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, likes to tout his devotion to the Catholic Church.

He also is the first to throw stones at others.

This self-proclaimed holy man tweets some of the most vile, despicable stuff.

Yesterday and today, Zielinski has exploited his faith to target Paul Ryan.

Examples:

Unbelievable.

As a practicing Catholic, I find Zielinski's conduct reprehensible.

He's exploiting the faith to score political points and take swipes at a political opponent.

To talk about what the "wicked" Paul Ryan should be thinking when he receives the Body of Christ at Mass is disgusting.

I can't stand Zielinski using the Church to lash out politically, given that he utterly ignores one of the most fundamental Catholic teachings - respecting human life from conception to natural death.

Yes, Zielinski is trashing Paul Ryan; but I find his comments to be extremely offensive to me personally as a Catholic.

Apparently, Zielinski and I have a very different understanding of what it means to live our faith.
