Sandy Victim, Donna Vanzant: Abandoned by Obama

Obama has left a trail of broken promises.

He promised to help victims from Hurricane Sandy, like Donna Vanzant.

This image of Obama embracing Vanzant was shared around the world to show his alleged compassion.



With the storm hitting the week before the election, Obama benefited politically by the embrace with Donna Vanzant.

What's terribly sad is that Vanzant didn't receive the benefits Obama pledged to give.

She was used as a prop in a photo op.

After Hurricane Sandy hit along the New Jersey Shore and throughout New York City, President Obama traveled to the affected area and delivered a message to both victims and the federal government, advising the fed to use “no bureaucracy, no red tape … get resources where they’re needed as fast as possible.” To the victims, he promised assistance. “We are standing behind you and we are going to do everything we can to help you get back on your feet.”

It was that same day that an emotional embrace between the president and a New Jersey businesswoman, Donna Vanzant, was caught on camera and shared around the world. It’s a photo of which Vanzant now says, “It’s frustrating for me that that picture is even out there right now.”

...“I was very excited and felt warmed by the embrace, thinking, ‘This is really gonna happen, I’m going to get the help I need, because you promised that,’ and it’s been almost a month now and I’ve gotten no help,” she said.

Believe it or not, because the destruction was caused by the storm waters rising in a flood instead of falling down, financial assistance from insurance has been null. Vanzant says her only option offered by FEMA was to ‘get a loan’ at six percent interest, but she says she wouldn’t be able to make the monthly payments at such a rate.

Obama exploited her.

He has no shame.

I'm glad the victim is telling her story. Don't look for her to be interviewed on MSNBC.

Still No Power - Blame Obama?

It seems like ages since superstorm Sandy hit.

It's just been two weeks, not really that long ago.

However, if you're without power or without your home, the past two weeks have probably seemed like an eternity.

From FOX News:

About 120,000 homes and businesses in New York and New Jersey are still waiting for power come back on after superstorm Sandy swept through the area two weeks ago, followed by a nor'easter.

The Long Island Power Authority in New York still has the most customers out at about 100,000 as of Monday morning. Most of the rest are in New Jersey.

The totals don't include the tens of thousands of homes that are too damaged to have electricity turned back on. And Consolidated Edison, which serves New York City, says damaged equipment affected thousands and needs to be inspected and repaired before power comes back.

The prolonged lack of electricity as well as dearth of information about when it will be restored has angered residents and government officials alike.

Hundreds of residents protested Saturday outside LIPA's office, frustrated by its slow response to the outages.

Power restoration has been slower in Long Island than in other areas hit by the storm. Some of the blacked out homes and businesses the utility serves may not have power restored until the end of Tuesday, LIPA said.

"We are sitting in a cold house. No one comes by," said John Mangin of Levittown, N.Y. "There should be criminal charges against the CEO and the executive board of LIPA for failure to do their jobs."

Mangin was among about 300 people who were staging the rally.

Why not blame Obama?

Why doesn't the buck stop with him?

With Katrina, the buck stopped with President Bush.

If anyone in the press had the audacity to hold Obama accountable for the situation, I'm sure Obama would manage to blame Bush anyway. 

The suffering is a nonstory.

Go figure.

Chris Matthews Boycott

Chris Matthews' comment about being "so glad" Hurricane Sandy hit the week before the presidential election was shockingly insensitive. Even for Matthews, someone who constantly says terribly unfair and inappropriate things, this was way over the line. Dozens were killed and millions suffered as a result of the storm, but it helped elect Obama for a second term - a good thing in Matthews' warped world.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Let me just close my thoughts tonight. It takes a half a second. I am so proud of the country, to reelect this president and overcoming, not because of the partisanship or any of the, even the policies. Just the fact, here's an African guy, African-American guy from an unusual background, part immigrant background, part African-American background, with all this assault on him from day one, from Mitch McConnell, from the clowns out there that aren't elected and never will be to anything. And the way he took it, as somebody said it, with coolness and charm and dignity and just took it and took it and kept moving forward and doing his job.... Good work for him. A good day for America. I'm so glad we had that storm last week, 'cause I think the storm was one of those things, no, politically I should say, not in terms of hurting people. The storm brought in possibilities for good politics.

Matthews has apologized.

So?

Why should we accept his apology?

Where's the boycott on Matthews?

Rush Limbaugh made inappropriate remarks about Sandra Fluke. He apologized. That wasn't good enough for the Leftists. The first shot had been fired and nothing was going to stop the Democrats' "War on Women" strategy.

They waged a war on Limbaugh, with an all-out assault to get him off the air by pressuring his sponsors to dump him.

Obama placed a high profile phone call to Fluke. He was so concerned about her. (Of course, he sends the families of our war dead form letters.)

Why is Matthews getting off the hook so easily? Why aren't his sponsors being pressured to drop him? Why hasn't MSNBC fired him for his truly despicable statements?

Apparently, some apologies are accepted and some apologies will never be accepted.

If you're a Leftist, you'll be forgiven. If you're a conservative, you're unforgivable.

Dumpster Diving, Obama Campaigning

Hurricane Sandy gave Obama an opportunity.

As Rahm Emanuel, Obama's former chief of staff, said, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."

Obama didn't waste the hurricane.

He distributed photos to the press, showing him monitoring the storm in the Situation Room, looking so very presidential.

Obama toured devastated areas of New Jersey with Gov. Chris Christie.

After a couple of days of looking presidential and the photo-ops were complete, the shrinking Obama returned to the campaign trail, being as divisive as ever.

Meanwhile, American citizens are scavenging in dumpsters for food in the wake of the storm.

They need food and clothing.

So, while Obama is hanging out with Katy Perry in Milwaukee on Saturday and Bruce Springsteen in Madison on Monday, getting his base fired up, struggling to win Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes, our fellow Americans are picking through trash because they're without food.

Juxtapose those scenes - Obama with rich, pampered celebrities by his side and hungry, desperate people dumpster diving.

I fail to see how the hurricane will help Obama win reelection.

I don't know why Democrats are excited about Obama "looking presidential" in the White House, given the fact that the guy IS the president.

It's not good that Obama has a presidential stature problem. He IS the incumbent. I suppose the confusion comes from Obama campaigning as if he hasn't served as president for nearly one complete term.

A president worthy of reelection should be touting his accomplishments in office, not acting as if he hasn't served in the role. He should gladly take responsibility for what he's done. There's the rub for Obama.

I'm looking for another photo from the Situation Room, the one of Obama monitoring the deadly terrorist attack in Benghazi that took place on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on our homeland.

I'm looking for the photo of Obama monitoring the Benghazi attack, the one that went on for hours, where Americans requested assistance to save their lives but were denied.

Where is that photo?

Where is the photo of Obama monitoring the 9/11 attack in Benghazi?

I can't find one. Where is the HANDOUT from the White House of that image?

Does it exist?

Where is the photo of Obama "looking presidential" monitoring the deaths of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, the people Obama likes to call "his folks"?

Obama: Green Bay on Thursday

Obama will be back on the campaign trail on Thursday.

Due to Hurricane Sandy, after the brief break he took to actually serve in the role of president and acknowledge that he is the incumbent, Obama will soon be back to yapping about "Romnesia" and calling the Republican nominee a "bullshitter."

Who knows? Maybe Obama will have a new campaign strategy and start behaving with a bit more dignity. Very unlikely.
