Remembering Andrew Breitbart

It's hard to believe it's been one year since Andrew Breitbart passed away. It doesn't seem possible.

Here in Wisconsin, we all remember the insanity of early 2011. Breitbart was here, helping us fight to save our state.

When doctors in Madison were handing out fraudulent medical excuses to teachers and others skipping work to protest Gov. Scott Walker's reforms, Breitbart was there. He had no problem being diagnosed with "Walker pneumonia."

Here's video:

Here's Breitbart at a Tea Party rally in Madison, February 19, 2011:

He was passionate. He was fully committed to the cause. His enthusiasm and tenacity was inspiring. He was funny.

Here's video of Breitbart's remarks while introducing Sarah Palin at a Tea Party rally in Madison, April 16, 2011:

He was not afraid to call out the divisive, pro-union protesters there on the periphery of the gathering as lying, rude, disrespectful people. Breitbart told them to "go to hell." He defended the courageous Sarah Palin for her effectiveness in calling out the "community organizer-in-chief, Barack Obama."

And here's Andrew Breitbart's speech at CPAC, February 11, 2012:

One of my favorite lines: "Everything has changed, everything has changed in the last few years. Conservatives used to take it and we're not taking it anymore."

Pope Benedict's Goodbye (Video)

From AP:
Pope Benedict XVI left the Vatican for the last time as pontiff on Thursday, flying by helicopter to the Vatican's vacation retreat hours before becoming the first pontiff in 600 years to resign.
Here's the transcript of Pope Benedict's final words as pontiff:
Dear friends, I'm happy to be with you, surrounded by the beauty of creation and your well-wishes which do me such good. Thank you for your friendship, and your affection. You know this day is different for me than the preceding ones: I am no longer the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church, or I will be until 8 o'clock this evening and then no more.

I am simply a pilgrim beginning the last leg of his pilgrimage on this Earth. But I would still ... thank you ... I would still with my heart, with my love, with my prayers, with my reflection, and with all my inner strength, like to work for the common good and the good of the church and of humanity. I feel very supported by your sympathy.

Let us go forward with the Lord for the good of the church and the world. Thank you, I now wholeheartedly impart my blessing. Blessed be God Almighty, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Good night! Thank you all!
This is a historic day.

It's bittersweet. I'm not good with goodbyes, but I trust that Pope Benedict has made the right decision.

Gene Sperling, Bob Woodward Emails

Gene Sperling is the "very senior person" at the White House who threatened Bob Woodward.

Sperling is Obama's henchman. He's the thug.

From Politico, via Mark Levin:

From Gene Sperling to Bob Woodward on Feb. 22, 2013
Bob:

I apologize for raising my voice in our conversation today. My bad. I do understand your problems with a couple of our statements in the fall — but feel on the other hand that you focus on a few specific trees that gives a very wrong perception of the forest. But perhaps we will just not see eye to eye here.

But I do truly believe you should rethink your comment about saying saying that Potus asking for revenues is moving the goal post. I know you may not believe this, but as a friend, I think you will regret staking out that claim. The idea that the sequester was to force both sides to go back to try at a big or grand barain with a mix of entitlements and revenues (even if there were serious disagreements on composition) was part of the DNA of the thing from the start. It was an accepted part of the understanding — from the start. Really. It was assumed by the Rs on the Supercommittee that came right after: it was assumed in the November-December 2012 negotiations. There may have been big disagreements over rates and ratios — but that it was supposed to be replaced by entitlements and revenues of some form is not controversial. (Indeed, the discretionary savings amount from the Boehner-Obama negotiations were locked in in BCA: the sequester was just designed to force all back to table on entitlements and revenues.)

I agree there are more than one side to our first disagreement, but again think this latter issue is diffferent. Not out to argue and argue on this latter point. Just my sincere advice. Your call obviously.

My apologies again for raising my voice on the call with you. Feel bad about that and truly apologize.

Gene

From Woodward to Sperling on Feb. 23, 2013
Gene: You do not ever have to apologize to me. You get wound up because you are making your points and you believe them. This is all part of a serious discussion. I for one welcome a little heat; there should more given the importance. I also welcome your personal advice. I am listening. I know you lived all this. My partial advantage is that I talked extensively with all involved. I am traveling and will try to reach you after 3 pm today. Best, Bob
Sperling apologizes for yelling at Woodward and Woodward accepts his apology.

The fact that there will be retribution if someone strays from the Obama game plan should bother anyone who cares about free speech and a free press, just as Obama's assault on the Catholic Church and religious liberty should bother people of all faiths or no faith.

Shadows from the past:

Obama is out of control. Four more years of abuses.

Lanny Davis Threatened by Obama White House

Like Bob Woodward, Democrat operative Lanny Davis was also threatened by the Obama White House.

Apparently, the Obama regime demands total, unconditional, complete allegiance or there will be consequences.

Here's audio, from WMAL:

A day after Woodward's claim that a senior White House official had told him he would "regret" writing a column criticizing President Obama's stance on the sequester, Lanny Davis, a longtime close advisor to President Bill Clinton, told WMAL's Mornings on the Mall Thursday he had received similar threats for newspaper columns he had written about Obama in the Washington Times.

Davis told WMAL that his editor, John Solomon, "received a phone call from a senior Obama White House official who didn't like some of my columns, even though I'm a supporter of Obama. I couldn't imagine why this call was made." Davis says the Obama aide told Solomon, "that if he continued to run my columns, he would lose, or his reporters would lose their White House credentials."
Obama is out of control. He operates like a dictator. He tramples on the Constitution. It's a pattern. It's a way of life.

I find it interesting that Davis suffered in silence, until Bob Woodward stepped forward. How many others have received similar threats?

It doesn't surprise me. Threats are the M.O. of the Obama White House, and not only in reining in the press.

The sequester matter is a mass of threats.

I wish Davis had come forward before the election. Maybe it wouldn't have a made a difference. Dependents want their free stuff (AKA stuff from taxpayers).

Ron Fournier tells his story.

Obama Releases Criminals

The Obama administration has truly run amok.

Obama is running a terror campaign. Obama is terrorizing Americans.

Former senator from Texas, Phil Gramm, writes about Obama's shameful tactics and lies:

President Obama's message could not be clearer: Life as we know it in America will change dramatically on March 1, when automatic cuts are imposed to achieve $85 billion in government-spending reductions. Furloughed government employees, flight delays and criminals set free are among the dire consequences the president has predicted. If the Washington Monument weren't already closed for repairs, no doubt it too would be shut down.

...The president's response to the sequester demonstrates how out of touch he is with the real world of working families. Even after the sequester, the federal government will spend $15 billion more than it did last year, and 30% more than it spent in 2007. Government spending on nondefense discretionary programs will be 19.2% higher and spending on defense will be 13.8% higher than it was in 2007.

For a typical American family that earns less than it did in the year President Obama was elected, the anguished cries and dark predictions coming out of the White House should elicit not sympathy but revulsion.
Obama's doomsday warnings are meant to scare and they're meant to shift responsibility away from him.

In one instance, however, Obama is making good on his scary promises. He is releasing criminals, but before the sequester deadline.

Arnold Ahlert, FrontPage Magazine explains:

In one of the most politically despicable moves ever perpetrated by a sitting administration, federal immigration officials have released hundreds of illegal aliens from prison in anticipation of budget cuts produced by the sequester. “As fiscal uncertainty remains over the continuing resolution and possible sequestration, ICE has reviewed its detained population to ensure detention levels stay within ICE’s current budget,” said agency spokeswoman Gillian M. Christensen in a statement. Immigration officials further warned that even more releases are possible, if the anticipated cuts are realized.

In Arizona, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, who revealed that more than 500 inmates were released in his county alone, put this ploy in the proper perspective. “President Obama would never release 500 criminal illegals to the streets of his hometown, yet he has no problem with releasing them in Arizona. The safety of the public is threatened and the rule of law discarded as a political tactic in this sequester battle,” he said.
Naturally, Obama is not taking any responsibility whatsoever for this inexcusable action.

Jay Carney says the White House was not involved.

The White House and the Department of Homeland Security were unaware of Immigration Customs and Enforcement's decision to release detainees until the agency announced it, administration officials said Wednesday.

"This was a decision made by career officials at ICE without any input from the White House, as a result of fiscal uncertainty over the continuing resolution, as well as possible sequestration," White House press secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday.

Personnel at Department of Homeland Security headquarters in Washington were also unaware of the decision until the announcement was made, a department official told POLITICO.
It's very simple: THE BUCK STOPS WITH OBAMA.

End of story.

This guy is a disgrace.

Leno: Rick Perry and Sequestration

Comedians have always joked about the president.

Regardless of political party affiliation, the person in power has been the butt of jokes. The president's activities and policies are fodder for punch lines.

As we know, Obama has been spared ridicule. It's a rare, rare thing when Obama is mocked by a late night talk show host or guest. It just doesn't happen.

Last night, I had the misfortune of hearing a bit of Jay Leno's monologue.

He actually chose to mock Rick Perry on the topic of sequestration. RICK PERRY!

The joke involved Perry not understanding sequestration and mistaking it for Ryan Seacrest.

It's absolutely pathetic that Leno reaches back to Perry rather than focusing on Obama. Leno mentioned Obama in a joke but it ripped FOX News rather than the guy in the White House.

Obama offers so much material that Leno and those of his ilk could be using, but they protect him. He's untouchable. It's not normal.

The Leftist comedians didn't spare Bill Clinton. Why does Obama get a pass? It's never happened before.

I've heard many say that Obama isn't funny. He's so cool. He's so perfect. Jokes aren't there.

Now, that is funny.

You'd think the Leftist comedians would end their self-imposed moratorium on jokes directed at the sitting president. Getting a laugh is the goal.

Rick Perry. Unbelievable.

Pope Benedict XVI, Pope Emeritus

Yesterday, Pope Benedict XVI held his last General Audience in St. Peter's Square.

The full text of his address, from Vatican Information Services, can be read here.

Video, from the Catholic World Report:

Pope Benedict's greeting to English-speaking pilgrims at his General Audience [Wednesday], the last of his pontificate:

Pope Benedict leads the assembled crowd in the recitation of the Our Father in Latin, and then gives his final blessing:

From Catholic News Service:
On his last full day as pope, Pope Benedict XVI delivered an unusually personal and emotional farewell address, thanking the faithful around the world for their support and assuring them that he would remain in their service even in retirement.

"I will continue to accompany the path of the church with prayer and reflection, with that dedication to the Lord and to his bride that I have tried to live every day till now and that I want to live always," the pope told a crowd in St. Peter's Square Feb. 27, the eve of his resignation.

Under a clear blue sky with temperatures in the low 40s, the pope arrived for his last public audience shortly after 10:30 a.m., standing and waving for almost 15 minutes as his white popemobile made a circuit through the square. Cheering pilgrims waved national flags and banners with slogans such as "always with the pope" and "you will never be alone."

The crowd spilled over into the adjacent Via della Conciliazione, which had been closed to motorized traffic, and the Vatican estimated turnout at 150,000.

Abandoning his usual practice of giving a catechetical talk on a devotional text or theme at public audiences, the pope spoke about his time as pope and his historic decision to resign. He looked tired but composed as he read his speech, and he smiled at the frequent interruptions by applause.

Pope Benedict recalled his almost eight-year pontificate as a time of "joy and light, but also difficult moments."

"The Lord has given us so many days of sun and light breeze, days in which the catch of fish has been abundant," he said, likening himself to St. Peter on the Sea of Galilee.

"There have also been moments in which the waters were turbulent and the wind contrary, as throughout the history of the church, and the Lord seemed to be asleep," he said. "But I have always known that the Lord is in that boat and that the boat of the church is not mine, it is not ours, but it is his and he does not let it sink."

The pope, who announced Feb. 11 that he would step down because his "strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry," told the crowd that he had made his decision "in full consciousness of its gravity and also novelty, but with profound serenity of soul."

Although he would be retiring to a life of prayer, meditation and study in a monastery inside Vatican City, he said, he would continue to serve and sacrifice for the church.

"Whoever assumes the Petrine ministry no longer has any privacy," he said. "He belongs always and totally to all, to the whole church.

"My decision to renounce the active exercise of the ministry does not revoke this," he said. "I am not returning to private life, a life of trips, meetings, receptions, conferences, etc. I am not abandoning the cross, but remain in a new way beside the crucified Lord. I no longer carry the power of office for the government of the church, but in the service of prayer I remain, so to speak, within St. Peter's precincts."
The mainstream media coverage of Pope Benedict's resignation has been terrible.

An example of the slurs spewed by NBC News is detailed here by the Media Research Center.

Beyond taking swipes at Pope Benedict, CNN has bashed the Catholic Church.

Only an hour after Pope Benedict XVI announced his resignation from the papacy, and not ten minutes into Monday's Starting Point, CNN's Soledad O'Brien hosted the director of an anti-Catholic documentary who has called Pope Benedict a "criminal" and a "deeply flawed human being."

Director Alex Gibney was O'Brien's first guest on her show. His new film on the clerical sex abuse scandal has been criticized as distorted and misleading and "an anti-Catholic broadside masquerading as a documentary." O'Brien praised it as "riveting, absolutely riveting," however, and let him criticize Pope Benedict.
This sort of rot is typical.

I find myself having to just ignore so much served up by the media. It's not pleasant being perpetually disgusted. I have to tune it out.

From the New York Times:

Benedict, 85, resigns on Thursday, exiting the papacy at 8 p.m. In the morning, he meets the cardinals who will elect his successor sometime next month. At 5 p.m. a helicopter will fly him to his summer residence, Castel Gandolfo, where he is expected to wave to well-wishers and utter a few words. By 8:01 p.m., he will have the title “pope emeritus.”

...Stirring the waters of the Benedict years were a contagion of child sexual-abuse scandals involving priests; missteps that provoked the anger of some Jews, Muslims and Anglicans; and the leaking of damaging internal Vatican documents. More recently, Italian news reports have said an investigation by three cardinals into the leaked documents has detailed corruption in the Vatican ranks.

Benedict, the first pope in nearly 600 years to step down voluntarily, repeated the explanation he proffered in making the announcement on Feb. 11. “In these last months, I felt that my strength was diminished,” he said. He asked God to help him make the decision “not for my good, but for the good of the church.”

He said he took the step fully aware of its seriousness and novelty, “but with a profound serenity of spirit.”

In an Academy Awards-like passage, Benedict also gave thanks to a list of people: his “brother cardinals”; the members of the Vatican Curia, or administrative body; the Holy See’s diplomatic corps; the bishops; and the “ordinary people” who had sent their good wishes.
"Academy Awards-like passage"? Oh, come on!

They don't get it. I don't expect them to understand that one billion or more people like me love and respect Pope Benedict. They suffer from severe intolerance. They are pitiable.

More on the final day of Pope Benedict's papacy:

On the morning of 28 February, the last day of his pontificate, the Pope will meet with, again in the Clementine Hall, the cardinals what are present in Rome. At 4:55pm, in the San Damaso Courtyard of the Vatican Apostolic Palace and before a detachment of the Swiss Guards, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, S.D.B., secretary of State of His Holiness, and and other members of that dicastery will bid him farewell. The Pope's helicopter will land at Castel Gandolfo at 5:15pm, where he will be received by Cardinal Giuseppe Bertello and Bishop Giuseppe Sciacca, respectively president and secretary general of the Governorate of Vatican City State along with Bishop Marcello Semeraro of the Diocese of Albano, and civil authorities of the locality.

Benedict XVI will appear at the balcony of the Castel Gandolfo Apostolic Palace to greet those who have gathered in the square to wish him well. The Sede Vacante will begin at 8:00pm and the Swiss Guards assigned to him at Castel Gandolfo will take their leave, as their corps is dedicated to the safe-guarding of the Roman Pontiff. Instead, the Vatican Gendarmerie will take over the Pope emeritus' safety detail.

Fr. Lombardi also explained that Bendict XVI will no longer use the “Fisherman's Ring”, which will be destroyed along with the lead seal of the pontificate. This task falls to the cardinal camerlengo and his assistants. Likewise, the Press Office director announced that the Pope will no longer wear the red papal shoes.

Regarding the beginning of the Congregations of Cardinals, the dean of the College of Cardinals will send a letter to all the cardinals on 1 March, calling them to Rome. “It is likely, therefore,” Fr. Lombardi added, “that the congregations will begin starting next week.”

Joe Voiland: Lincoln Day Dinner Speech

Joe Voiland, candidate for Ozaukee County Circuit Court, delivered remarks at the Lincoln Day Dinner, explaining why judges shouldn't play politics.

That, of course, is something incumbent Judge Tom Wolfgram doesn't understand.

Wolfgram signed the petition to recall Gov. Scott Walker. He has the audacity to claim that it wasn't "a political statement."

Truly ridiculous.

Here's Voiland's speech:

White House Threatens Bob Woodward (Video)

The Obama White House doesn't like Bob Woodward's reporting on the looming sequester.

Obama is out of control, and no wonder.

The press has FAILED to hold him accountable.

Now, Woodward is being threatened for his reporting. (Read: Obama’s sequester deal-changer.)

What has Obama done to our country?

Disgraceful.

Woodward said this live on CNN.

Video:

I blame the liberal media/liberal entertainment complex for creating this monster, AKA Obama.

________________

Mark Levin points out more, from Business Insider:
Bob Woodward said this evening on CNN that a "very senior person" at the White House warned him that he would "regret doing this," the same day he has continued to attack President Barack Obama over the looming forced cuts known as the sequester.

CNN host Wolf Blitzer said that the network invited a White House official to debate Woodward on-air, but the White House declined.

"I think they're confused," Woodward said of the White House's pushback on his reporting.

Earlier today on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Woodward ripped into Obama in what has become an ongoing feud between the veteran Washington Post journalist and the White House. Woodward said Obama was showing a "kind of madness I haven't seen in a long time" for a decision not to deploy an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf because of budget concerns.

The Defense Department said in early February that it would not deploy the U.S.S. Harry Truman to the Persian Gulf, citing budget concerns relating to the looming cuts known as the sequester.

"Can you imagine Ronald Reagan sitting there and saying, 'Oh, by the way, I can't do this because of some budget document?'" Woodward said on MSNBC.

"Or George W. Bush saying, 'You know, I'm not going to invade Iraq because I can't get the aircraft carriers I need?'" Or even Bill Clinton saying, 'You know, I'm not going to attack Saddam Hussein's intelligence headquarters,' ... because of some budget document?"
It all makes sense.

The mainstream media are totally in the tank for Obama.

Even comedians don't hold Obama accountable. Their idea of criticizing the administration is to mock Joe Biden. No president has received such an easy go of it. The Leftists in the media do the bidding of the White House. Nothing is challenged. They lie and edit and create a reality for Obama. They stopped doing their jobs when Obama was running for president in 2008.

It's truly a disgrace. And now, we have this power-crazed White House threatening Bob Woodward. Which idiot at the White House thought that would be a good idea?

Drudge is giving the story its proper attention.

I bet the White House is scrambling to get Michelle to appear with Jimmy Fallon again, anything.

Ed Flynn and Lindsey Graham (Video)

Ed Flynn goes to Washington.

Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn went to DC to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee. He advocated banning some guns.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Testifying at a U.S. Senate hearing Wednesday, Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn called on Congress to pass a ban on new sales of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines to civilians, saying “our nation’s cities are enduring slow-motion mass murder every single year.”

Flynn was one of several witnesses to appear at the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing on “The Assault Weapons Ban of 2013,” a bill authored by Democrat Dianne Feinstein of California.

Flynn cited Milwaukee crime data and invoked specific incidents in the city in recent years involving the use of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. He said that in less than three years, seven of his officers were shot with assault rifles or semi-automatic weapons.

"How many people have to get murdered in a mass murder for it to be enough?" Flynn said toward the end of his testimony, invoking the Newtown, Conn., massacre in December.

"Is 20 babies enough to say these implements of murder should not be distributed? That's what we're asking!" Flynn said in comments that drew applause from those in the audience who were there to support the bill. Flynn also engaged in some pointed exchanges with at least one Republican on the panel, South Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham.

...When Graham, the South Carolina Republican, asked Flynn how many cases he had pursued against people who failed background checks, Flynn responded sharply:

“We don’t make those cases. We have priorities. We have gun cases. We make 2,000 gun cases a year … We’re trying to prevent the wrong people from buying guns,” Flynn said. “We don’t chase paper, we chase armed criminals.”
Flynn was testy, like he was channeling his inner Tom Barrett (failure as mayor of Milwaukee and 3-time loser to be governor of Wisconsin).

I know this is just a clip but Flynn doesn't come off like a composed, confident expert on the matter.

In this video, it seemed that Flynn would have preferred to blow a vuvuzela than address Graham's point.

Flynn's obviously scripted sound bite, "We don't chase paper, we chase armed criminals," appeared to be his big line meant to counter background checks.

It fell flat as Graham questioned him in a calm, logical manner.

So Flynn admits that "paper," meaning background checks, are ineffective? He appears to argue that they're irrelevant, that he doesn't care about them. But then, he turns around and insists, "We're trying to prevent the wrong people from buying guns."

OK, how do we determine the "wrong people"?

I guess Flynn is saying that ALL citizens are "wrong people" when it comes to particular weapons.

Here's video:

Chief Flynn is flailing here, like a true Leftist, substituting alleged passion for reason.

John Kerry: 'Right To Be Stupid' (Video)

On his first official trip as Secretary of State, John Kerry, addressing a group of young people at an Internet cafe in Berlin, explained freedom in America, and that most precious right of all Americans, the right to be stupid.

Here's video:

JOHN KERRY: In America, you have a right to be stupid if you want to be, and you have a right to be disconnected to somebody else if you want to be, and we tolerate it. We somehow make it through that. Now, I think that's a virtue. I think that's something worth fighting for.
Good grief.

Being stupid is worth fighting for.

We know that Kerry embraces his right to be stupid.

What a qualified individual we have representing the United States! What a diplomatic genius! Such brilliance!

Way to go, Kerry. Way to go.

Obama's Afghanistan Lies

Of course, Obama would lie about the situation in Afghanistan.

He lied about Benghazi. It took weeks for him to admit that it was a terrorist attack and not the result of angry Muslims offended by a video.

Obama has lied incessantly about ObamaCare.

So, it should come as no surprise that Obama has been misleading the American people again. He's always crowing about HIS success in Afghanistan and the end of the war.

From the Associated Press:

The American-led military coalition in Afghanistan backed off Tuesday from its claim that Taliban attacks dropped off in 2012, tacitly acknowledging a hole in its widely repeated argument that violence is easing and that the insurgency is in steep decline.

In response to Associated Press inquiries about its latest series of statistics on security in Afghanistan, the coalition command in Kabul said it had erred in reporting a 7 percent decline in attacks. In fact there was no decline at all, officials said.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who is among the senior officials who had publicly repeated the assertion of an encouraging drop-off in Taliban attacks last year, was disturbed to learn of the error, said his spokesman, George Little.

"This particular set of metrics doesn't tell the full story of progress against the Taliban, of course, but it's unhelpful to have inaccurate information in our systems," Little said.

A coalition spokesman, Jamie Graybeal, attributed the miscounting to clerical errors and said the problem does not change officials' basic assessment of the war, which they say is on a positive track as American and allied forces withdraw.

The 7 percent figure had been included in a report posted on the website of the coalition, the International Security Assistance Force, on Jan. 22 as part of its monthly update on trends in security and violence. It was removed from the website recently without explanation. After the AP asked last week about the missing report, coalition officials said they were correcting the data and would re-publish the report. As of Tuesday afternoon it had not reappeared.
This makes me sick.

We've been fed lies.

Once upon a time, people cared about that sort of thing.

Tom Wolfgram and Scott Walker

Ozaukee County Judge Tom Wolfgram made a terrible decision in 2011.

He's up for reelection and his poor judgment is coming back to bite him.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Ozaukee County Circuit Judge Tom Wolfgram's bid for re-election in the April 2 spring election will rise or fall on the judgment of voters weighing the significance of his signature on a 2011 petition to recall Gov. Scott Walker.

Wolfgram, a 19-year veteran of the court in an overwhelmingly conservative county, acknowledges signing his name to a petition seeking to recall a sitting Republican governor.

The signature triggered a challenge to his hold on the job for the first time since he was appointed to the court in 1994 by then Gov. Tommy Thompson. County voters rehired Wolfgram without opposition in 1995, 2001 and 2007.

Joe Voiland, an attorney attempting to unseat Wolfgram, announced Monday that four Republican state legislators representing portions of Ozaukee County had endorsed the Voiland campaign: Sen. Alberta Darling of River Hills, and Reps. Dan Knodl of Germantown, Jim Ott of Mequon and Duey Stroebel of the Town of Cedarburg.

...Wolfgram on Monday insisted he viewed the possibility of a recall campaign as simply providing time for himself and other citizens to gain more information on a few proposals in Walker's first-term agenda that prompted the recall effort. Among them were rescinding collective bargaining for most public employees and requiring public employees to pay more for medical and pension benefits.

Walker won the June 2012 recall election. Both initiatives became law a year earlier, several months before Wolfgram signed the petition.

When Voiland last month registered as a candidate and called Wolfgram out for signing the petition, the judge said his signature was "not a political statement" in opposition to the governor or his proposals.

...Forcing a costly recall election to provide more time to discuss legislation is bad public policy, Voiland said Monday.
There is no way I'd vote for a judge that signed the petition to recall Gov. Scott Walker.

"Not a political statement"?

Rubbish!

Wolfgram really made a fool of himself with that remark.

The notion that he actually believed a recall election would be a sensible way to simply provide "time for himself and other citizens to gain more information on a few proposals in Walker's first-term agenda" is ridiculous. That explanation is embarrassingly lame.

Wolfgram is obviously trying to slither out of the mess he made when he signed to recall Walker.

Actions have consequences. Wolfgram added his name to the petition to recall Gov. Scott Walker, a public document. He determined that was appropriate for a judge to do. Then, when confronted about his choice, Wolfgram was unable to provide a reasonable explanation for his decision.

Wolfgram needs to go.

Vote for Joe Voiland.

Daniel Day-Lewis and Ann Coulter

The Onion and Quevenzhane Wallis

Quevenzhane Wallis made Oscar history as the youngest Best Actress nominee ever. She's only nine years old.

A tweet put out by The Onion during the Oscars on Sunday night showed that even a well known irreverent, satirical outfit can push its brand of "humor" too far.

From the Hollywood Reporter:

While the top awards were being handed out Sunday at the 85th Oscars, the satirical news organization sent out a message on its official Twitter account calling 9-year-old best actress nominee Quvenzhane Wallis the C-word.

...The tweet, sent out around 8:42 p.m. PST, quickly made the rounds on the social media website. An hour later, the offending message was deleted from The Onion's feed.

Obviously, Quevenzhane Wallis is very talented. She's an adorable little girl. The comment is, of course, ridiculous.

That said, there are limits in terms of decency. Applying the C-word to her was not wise.

There's no question that we've experienced a coarsening of our culture. Vulgarity has become commonplace, no big deal. In some cases, it's held up as art. Hollywood has been instrumental in pushing the limits of decency and desensitizing us to that which is crude and crass. Freedom of expression trumps all, as long as it promotes a liberal agenda.

For that reason, I think there's a bit of hypocrisy in the outrage over the tweet. If it were about one of Sarah Palin's daughters, I doubt the Leftists would be troubled in the least.

The use of the C-word makes the comment more offensive, but it also more clearly distinguishes it as absurd and silly. That clarity, however, doesn't make it appropriate.

Bottom line: This was a case of very bad judgment on the part of The Onion. We still want to protect and respect children (unless they belong to Sarah Palin).

Seth MacFarlane Oscar Reviews

Some viewers hated Seth MacFarlane as host of the Oscars. Others loved him.

From Reuters:

Rookie Oscar host Seth MacFarlane casually slung a string of zingers at some of Hollywood's biggest names, including a musical tribute to female frontal nudity in the movies, as he launched the Academy Awards show on Sunday on a decisively provocative note.

In an opening monologue and package of song-and-dance numbers obviously calculated to live up to, and even lampoon, his own reputation for pushing the boundaries of taste, MacFarlane put his biting, edgy brand of humor front and center.

...The edgy quotient quickly escalated as MacFarlane described another best-film candidate, "Django Unchained," as the slavery-era "story of a man fighting to get back his woman who has been subjected to unthinkable violence - or as Chris Brown and Rihanna call it, a date movie."
From USA Today:
Oscars fans have seen a lot over the years, but this may be the first time they've ever seen a host use the awards to audition for his own variety show.

That was what Seth MacFarlane was doing on ABC's Oscar broadcast Sunday, wasn't it? Because it's hard to imagine just what else he might have had in mind with that oddly awkward mix of monologue and music that opened the show and set the evening's why-am-I-here? tone.

Give this to MacFarlane: He threw everything he had at it. He dressed up like The Flying Nun. He played with sock puppets. He radiated charm, if not cool. And, of course, he told jokes, a tad nervously, perhaps, but he did manage to land a fair number of them. He even got Tommy Lee Jones to laugh at a joke about getting Tommy Lee Jones to laugh, which has to count for something. Oh, and he sang and danced. A lot.

...Awash in self-indulgence, neither he nor his 3-hour-and-35-minute show ever seemed to hit a comfortable, confident stride, which is a shame, because the broadcast had a lot of entertainment to offer. Indeed, as with the Grammys, the awards themselves sometimes seemed to be an afterthought. Heaven knows the show seemed to be in no particular hurry to get to them.
From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
Seth MacFarlane brought unshakable self-confidence to the Academy Awards Sunday night, singing, dancing, making out (in a taped bit) with Sally Field and drawing occasional scowls and boos from the Hollywood A-list.

The creator of TV's "Family Guy" and writer-director of the movie "Ted" turned in a solid performance in an opening that hit as often as it missed.

MacFarlane seemed completely in command from the first moments, when he said, "And the quest to make Tommy Lee Jones laugh starts now." Jones, who had looked grim at the Golden Globes, laughed.
From the Associated Press:
He ruffled feathers. He maybe even turned some viewers off.

But it's likely no one turned off Seth MacFarlane.

Best-known until recently as the bad-boy creator and character voice behind "Family Guy" and last summer's hit film "Ted," MacFarlane seized the camera Sunday as host of ABC's Oscarcast and proved to its vast audience that he's a ridiculously versatile entertainer, a guy who can be as charming as he is famously irreverent, even polarizing.

Here's a guy who could toss off a joke Bob Hope might have delivered decades ago ("It's Sunday. Everybody's dressed up. This is like church - only with more people praying"), then carry off a deliberate groaner like his wisecrack that, while, an actor like Daniel Day-Lewis really captured Abraham Lincoln in his Oscar-winning performance, "I would argue that the actor who really got inside Abraham Lincoln's head was John Wilkes Booth."

...Especially on a night where everyone else seemed to be on their best behavior, MacFarlane's strategic misbehavior furnished welcome relief.

In interviews beforehand, he had spoken of his hope to strike a balance between respect for Hollywood and some necessary sass. Mission accomplished.

Leading-man handsome with a gleaming smile, he began the broadcast without a net and looking totally relaxed: Alone on the stage, he delivered a series of one-liners, most of which scored. (The Oscarcast was being watched by "close to a billion people worldwide," he intoned, "which is why Jodie Foster will be up here in a bit to ask for her privacy.")

Then he opened the door to his reputation for raunch with the appearance on a video screen of William Shatner as "Star Trek's" Captain Kirk, who had arrived from the future to scold MacFarland in advance for the hosting performance he was just starting.

"The show's a disaster," declared Shatner.

As evidence, he pointed to an "incredibly offensive song that upsets a lot of actresses in the audience."

With that, a pre-taped production number featured MacFarlane singing "We Saw Your Boobs," saluting a roster of actresses who have bared themselves in their films.

But then, in an effort to atone, MacFarlane sang a classy rendition of "The Way You Look Tonight" accompanied by Charlize Theron and Channing Tatum in dance.

Not good enough, said Shatner, who then revealed a video clip where MacFarlane, costumed in a Flying Nun habit, hit on Oscar nominee Sally Field in the green room.

Back and forth went the routine: Bad Seth and Good Seth. Both were very funny, stewarding a broadcast that never went askew.
From the New York Daily News:
Seth MacFarlane talked a little too much about Seth MacFarlane.

He may have dealt a setback to Chris Brown's progress in anger management.

But he made Sunday's annual Academy Awards telecast into one of the best Oscar nights in years.

Yes, it helped that Sunday's winners were films that viewers might have actually seen and that First Lady Michelle Obama announced the best-picture champ.

It also helped that the evening's theme was musicals, since it's illegal not to love Catherine Zeta-Jones singing "All That Jazz" and Jennifer Hudson singing "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going."

But MacFarlane was the engineer, and it's no coincidence Sunday's ride was a fine one.
Was MacFarlane the worst Oscar host ever?

No way.

That honor would go to David Letterman.

In short, MacFarlane could have been worse.

The show in general was disjointed and uneven and unnecessarily long.

It was short on emotion.

It was kind of awkward and joyless. Oh, and boring.

Someone explain to me why Michelle Obama announced Best Picture.

That was more outrageous than anything MacFarlane said or did.

Michelle Obama and Jimmy Fallon: Mom Dancing (Video)

Michelle Obama and Jimmy Fallon

The Obamas can't seem to stay off network entertainment TV.

Tonight, Michelle Obama will be a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Again?

Oh, good grief.

I need an escape from the Obamas. Give me a break!

Michelle and Fallon are tweeting back and forth to hype the show.

I suppose NBC thinks her appearance will be a ratings boost. Given its positively dismal performance during sweeps, I understand the desperation.

The election is over. We don't need to put up with Michelle and Obama and Biden on these shows anymore. Michelle is usually pleasant enough, but there must be some underlying purpose for her appearance.

Yes, they will compete again in the vein of the Let's Move campaign, but there's more.

I fear that this time it will be gun control.

I've been bombarded with emails from Obama's "Organizing" machine about guns. They requested personal stories about gun tragedies. Just today, I got a message urging me to urge my congressman, named in the email, to "create a drumbeat that can't be ignored."

I hope Michelle doesn't beat that drum on Fallon's show tonight.

Unfortunately, I don't think her purpose is to entertain. This time, it's guns.

Will she talk "sequester"?

Probably.

I'm sick of NBC shilling for the Left.

_______________

UPDATE: No talk of guns or sequester. There was no Let's Move competition, though the last one they had at the White House was a topic of discussion. Instead, there was a "Mom Dance" segment, with Fallon dressed like a mom and the two doing various "Mom" dance moves. It was cute.

Fred Usinger Day

I love Usinger's.

I love the store on Old World Third Street. I love the marble, and the murals on the walls with their German captions, and, of course, the sausage.

I'm jonesing for Usinger's mortadella and summer sausage and brats. Fridays in Lent can be tough.

Tomorrow, the city and county of Milwaukee are recognizing Fred Usinger's contribution by proclaiming it Fred Usinger Day.

From OnMilwaukee.com:

Both the city and county have issued proclamations dedicating the day to Usinger, who founded his well-known sausage company 130 years ago and remains a fixture on Old World 3rd Street -- across the street from the Old German Beer Hall -- to this day.

The free bratwurst giveaway honors the legendary sausage-maker by with an homage to a longtime Milwaukee tradition. Bars, in Usinger's early days, often provided customers with free lunches and bar owners were willing to purchase Usinger's sausages because of their popularity with customers.

Customers can get their free bratwurst by visiting the Old German Beer Hall, 1009 N. Old World 3rd St., between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Free brats!

What's not to love?

I definitely plan to celebrate Fred Usinger Day tomorrow.

National Margarita Day

The snow is falling AGAIN and I'm thinking about sipping a Margarita on a warm summer evening.

HAPPY NATIONAL MARGARITA DAY!

Biden: 'Buy a Shotgun'

JOE BIDEN: Kate, if you want to protect yourself, get a double-barrel shotgun, have the shells, a 12-gauge shotgun. And I promise you, as I told my wife, we live in an area that's wooded and somewhat secluded, I said, 'Jill, if there's ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here or walk out, put that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.' I promise you who's ever coming in is not gonna.

You don't need an AR-15. It's harder to aim. It's harder to use, and, in fact, you don't need 30 rounds to protect yourself. Buy a shotgun. Buy a shotgun.
OK, champ.

I guess I should buy a shotgun.

However, I don't know about the wisdom of just firing "two blasts" outside if there's a "problem." That sounds rather dangerous.

Also, in this video, Biden claims he has Parents magazine in his home. Really?

That's weird. I think Joe is embellishing a bit - again.

Walker Budget: Residency Requirement

From Governor Scott Walker’s 2013 Budget Address Speech:
Tonight, I want to share with each of you our ambitious plans to help more people live the American Dream—right here in Wisconsin.

Our focus is simple—more prosperity, better performance and true independence.

Going into this budget, we face a much different set of circumstances than we did two years ago. At the start of 2011, Wisconsin faced a $3.6 billion budget deficit and the unemployment rate was 7.8 percent. At the time, I stated that moderation and frugality in government would lead to freedom and prosperity for our people.

Two years later and Wisconsin has a budget surplus and our unemployment rate is down to 6.6 percent. It wasn't easy, but we're turning Wisconsin around.
"Our focus is simple—more prosperity, better performance and true independence."

That is simple.

The Leftists, of course, have a problem with that.

True dependence is their goal. It's their path to power.

True choice is the enemy of the Leftists, unless of course the "choice" is to kill an unborn child.

Like the failed mayor of Milwaukee and three-time Wisconsin gubernatorial loser, Tom Barrett, the Leftists believe municipal employees should be bound by a residency requirement. No choice.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

As part of his budget, Gov. Scott Walker is calling for the statewide elimination of residency laws that require municipal employees to live in the city or village where they work.

The governor also said he wanted to freeze property taxes, except for new construction, and hold the line on any new shared revenue or new transportation aid.

The sweeping proposal on residency laws - a single sentence in Walker's budget - would affect an estimated 127 municipalities across the state, including Milwaukee, the state's largest city.

Under Walker's plan, local units of government, including school districts like Milwaukee Public Schools, and counties would not be able to institute or enforce residency requirements for current or prospective employees.

Walker had been widely expected to propose ending residency rules in Milwaukee, but it was unclear until Wednesday that he wanted to end the residency rules throughout the state.

In Milwaukee, the law has been on the books for 75 years.

Both the Milwaukee Police Association and Milwaukee Professional Firefighters' Local 215 had sought to end the residency rule in previous years.

In an interview, Mayor Tom Barrett said he didn't believe the governor's budget "should be used for political payback purposes."

"There's no question he's doing it at the behest of the Milwaukee Police Association and Firefighters Local 215," Barrett said. "They're the driving force behind this because they supported him."
Poor Tom. He has to deflect from his failures by accusing Gov. Walker of political payback. Pathetic.

The Leftists are terrified of people being free. They're into control. Individual freedom runs counter to their ideology.

The fact is the elimination of residency rules has been debated for ages. It's an antiquated policy that now functions to prop up Barrett's decaying Milwaukee.

People shouldn't be forced to live there because they happen to be employed by the city. They should want to make it their home because of the great quality of life it offers. Good schools and safe, stable neighborhoods, affordable taxes, and low crime make an area a desirable place to live.

Why are the Leftists afraid of lifting the residency requirement?

They fear a mass exodus of taxpayers.

If they had confidence in the city as a wonderful place to live and raise a family, they would have nothing to fear.

In effect, they believe the city is a hellhole people would escape if they could.

...Nationwide, there is no reliable data on what happened in cities where the residency rule was either loosened or dropped altogether.

...In Detroit there was a mass exodus of people when the residency law was repealed in 1999. But a host of other factors - a deteriorating economy, crime and a poor education system - also led Detroiters to flee in large numbers.
"[A] deteriorating economy, crime and a poor education system" are identified as reasons Detroit citizens fled when the residency requirement was lifted in 1999.

That "host of other factors" sounds a lot like Milwaukee in 2013. Don't the media Leftists recognize that? Wake up!

Instead of Barrett whining about political payback, he should get the city moving in the right direction or get out of the way. If he refuses to be held accountable for his awful leadership and miserable record, the people of Milwaukee should elect a mayor who will work to really improve the city.

Restore its health. The city can thrive again. The life support of the residency requirement is not a solution.

Adam Neylon Wins Assembly Race by 30 Votes

The drama of the 98th Assembly District special election continues.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Village of Pewaukee window cleaning business owner Adam Neylon won Tuesday's Republican primary for the 98th Assembly District, all but guaranteeing he will take the Waukesha County seat in the April 2 general election because no Democrat is running.

Neylon, 28, beat out four others - Village of Pewaukee Police Chief Ed Baumann; construction project manager Todd Greenwald of the Village of Pewaukee; Marquette University graduate student Matt Morzy of Waukesha; and Jeanne Tarantino of Waukesha, the former chief of staff to Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch.

Neylon led his closest opponent, Baumann, by 30 votes out of more than 5,200 cast. That means the official canvass will be closely watched. If the lead holds up in the canvass, the close margin would raise the possibility of a recount because candidates can get the state to pay for recounts in instances when the margin is less than half a percentage point.

The district includes the City of Pewaukee, Village of Pewaukee, Sussex and the northern portion of the City of Waukesha.

The general election is April 2, but only the name of the GOP primary winner will appear on the ballot because no Democrats or independents registered.

The election will boost the GOP's majority in the Assembly to 60-39.
Results, from FOX 6 News:
100% OF PRECINCTS REPORTING

Adam Neylon (R) - 2,003 - 38%

Ed Baumann (R) - 1,973 - 38%

Jeanne Tarantino (R) - 773 - 15%

Matt Morzy (R) - 253 - 5%

Todd Greenwald (R) - 217 - 4%
Thirty votes.

One thing is certain: Jeanne Tarantino is out.

Roggensack, Fallone Win Primary

Justice Pat Roggensack pulverized her challengers in the primary election for Wisconsin Supreme Court.

From the Associated Press, via 620 WTMJ:

Marquette University law professor Ed Fallone will face Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Pat Roggensack in the April election.

Fallone finished second in Tuesday's Supreme Court primary, behind Roggensack but well ahead of challenger Vince Megna. In unofficial returns, Roggensack took 60 percent of the vote to Fallone's 33 percent. Megna was far back in single digits.

...Democratic lawmakers and unions are supporting Fallone in the nonpartisan race. Roggensack has the backing of more than 150 county sheriffs and judges.
Results, from FOX 6 News:
99% OF PRECINCTS REPORTING

Pat Roggensack (I) - 229,552 - 64%

Joe Fallone - 106,638 - 30%

Vince Megna - 22,556 - 6%
Roggensack's challengers did not do well. Obviously, Fallone has the backing of the Leftists, but they failed to produce an impressive showing.

Maybe it was too cold and windy yesterday for the Leftists to vote.

Maybe Roggensack's supporters are just more enthusiastic. She's clearly a tremendous candidate.

Maybe the union/Democrat machine isn't firing on all cylinders yet.

Maybe the fact that the utterly unqualified Fallone has NO judicial experience accounts for the Roggensack landslide.

Vote Pat Roggensack

Vote Pat Roggensack for Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Dear Friend,

With my nearly 17 years of work as a judge in the courts of Wisconsin, I understand that the number one job of a judge is to apply the law, fairly and impartially to all who come before the court. I have great respect for the rule of law and the separate responsibilities of the three branches of government.

I am asking for your vote on February 19th for Supreme Court justice because the people of Wisconsin deserve a justice who has the extensive experience that I bring to the bench. While my opponents have no judicial experience at all, I know what is required of a judge because I have done the work myself.

I also have broad bipartisan support from the law enforcement community as well as state-wide support among judges. For example, I am endorsed by 53 Sheriffs from across the state, 24 District Attorneys, the Milwaukee Police Association and the Milwaukee Police Supervisors' Organization. 126 judges throughout the state of Wisconsin also have endorsed my efforts to be re-elected, as have four retired Supreme Court Justices.

I hope I have earned your vote for Wisconsin Supreme Court this Tuesday, February 19th.

Thanks!
Justice Pat Roggensack
Wisconsin Supreme Court

PS Please click here to see why experience is crucial to doing the job of a Supreme Court Justice.
Leftist candidates Ed Fallone and Vince Megna have ZERO judicial experience.

Tony Kushner, 'Lincoln' Screenwriter, and Reagan Ideology

In an interview with Charlie Rose, Tony Kushner, screenwriter of the Oscar-nominated film Lincoln, reveals that he is positively delusional.

History tells us that Mary Todd Lincoln suffered from mental illness. There are questions about Abraham Lincoln's mental status, too. Is Kushner's break with reality an illness or is it the result of pure ignorance?

He calls the Ronald Reagan's view of the relationship between government and the people as "frightening," resulting in "psychotic individualism."

Say what???

Kushner bashes Reagan and conservatives, as well as Mitt Romney, as rejecting the "human community." He blasts the Tea Party. He equates Obama with Lincoln.

Crazy.

Here's video, from MRC:

MRC has the transcript.

I have yet to see Lincoln. I wanted to see it, but it's going to be tough to watch knowing that the insufferable Kushner views Obama as similar to the president charged with serving during the CIVIL WAR. I knew Kushner is a liberal but I didn't realize he's as nuts as he is.

Does the movie include the fact that Lincoln wanted to return freed slaves to Africa? Does it present such documented facts?

Just wondering.

SNL: Marco Rubio (Video)

There was never any doubt that Marco Rubio and his infamous water gulp would be fodder on Saturday Night Live this weekend.

Here's video:

It's worth noting that there was no sketch lampooning Obama and his State of the Union address.

Saturday Night Live is in its 38th season.

ALL sitting presidents, Repubicans and Democrats, have been mocked on the show.

But Obama is spared.

SNL: DJESUS UNCROSSED (Video)

Did Saturday Night Live cross the line with its violent, bloody trailer for DJesus Uncrossed, a parody of Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained and Inglourious Basterds?

Host Christoph Waltz appeared in Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained. In SNL's offering, he played the part of DJesus, as in Jesus Christ, Son of God, going on a murderous, vengeful rampage.

Here's video.

TRAILER NARRATOR: This summer, if you liked Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, then get ready for the ultimate historical revenge fantasy - DJesus Uncrossed.

He's risen from the dead, and he's preaching anything but forgiveness.

He may be wearing sandals, but he can still kick ass.
What are critics saying?

The trailer ends with this warning from DJesus:

DJESUS: No more Mr. Nice Jesus.
That's followed by a gunshot and a splattering of blood across the screen.

Is this video enough to cause Christians to erupt in violent protests and storm Rockefeller Center and Hollywood studios?

According to Obama and his legions, a video criticizing Islam caused worldwide protests. The Obama administration even insisted the video prompted the uprising in Benghazi that resulted in the deaths of our ambassador and three other Americans.

So will this blasphemous SNL video get a similar reaction?

Will our government put the makers of the video in jail?

Of course not.

Laugh. Just laugh.

Obama: 'I'm Not the Emperor'

Poor Obama. He has a problem that he's struggled with for years.

He's not the EMPEROR OF THE UNITED STATES!

From the Weekly Standard:

OBAMA: This is something that I've struggled with throughout my presidency. The problem is, is that, um, you know, I'm the president of the United States, I'm not, uh, the emperor of the United States. Uh, my job is to execute laws that are passed.
That's quite a problem.

If only Obama were free to dictate as he pleases, instead of being bound by the Constitution.

Poor guy.

I can't take this anymore. I really can't.

Rahm Emanuel: Organizing for 2016?

Rahm Emanuel for president of the United States in 2016?

From the Daily Beast:

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is said by well-connected Democrats to be considering the idea of running for president if Hillary Clinton opts out of the 2016 race.

The 53-year-old Emanuel, who is busy raising money for his 2015 reelection campaign in the Windy City, has had discussions both over the phone and face to face in the past month with Democratic Party donors and fundraisers about a possible White House run, according to sources.

It’s unclear who raised the subject—Emanuel or the donors—and the mayor’s press secretary initially didn’t offer clarity on who said what to whom Hours after this story was published, however, Tarah Cooper emailed denying that the mayor "raised or entertained" the subject of a White House run.
I can't stand the perpetual campaign.

As much as I want Obama's second term to be history, I don't want to think about the 2016 election.

Whatever Emanuel has planned for 2016, it's clear that he hasn't retreated to local politics. The Obama "campaign" is using him to advance Obama's agenda. They apparently consider him to be a popular figure.

Here's an email from Obama's campaign machine, Organizing For Action, formerly known as Organizing for America, meaning Organizing for Obama:

Mary --

On Tuesday, President Obama laid out a plan to create jobs and strengthen the middle class.

This isn't going to be an easy legislative fight, but we're not ones to sit out when the going gets tough -- especially for a fight as important as this.

This Saturday, Chicago mayor and former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel is hosting a tele-town hall to talk about the President's proposed plan and what we can do to make it happen.

Sign up today to join the call this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

You'll be joining supporters around the country -- plus some of the staff at Organizing for Action -- to get the info you need on the President's plan and how we can get Congress to act on it.

The President is counting on us.
