Great news!
I haven't watched the detestable Letterman for years, so I've endured Leno's stale monologues and lame "comedy" bits.
Finally, that's over.
Oh, wait. It's not.
The Milwaukee market will not see that change in the late night line-up.
From the Business Journal:
Jimmy Kimmel will be available in most of the country immediately after local TV stations’ late newscast, but in Milwaukee viewers will need to wait until 11 p.m.Oh, well.
Rather than airing “Jimmy Kimmel Live” at 10:35, Milwaukee ABC affiliate WISN-TV (Channel 12) will continue running its hour-long 10 p.m. weeknight newscast. The station will delay Kimmel until 11 p.m. when his show debuts in its new time slot Tuesday, Jan. 8. Kimmel's show has been running on ABC at 11:25 after "Nightline," which is switching to midnight.
The main reason Kimmel won’t appear here until 11 p.m. is the success of Channel 12’s hour-long 10 p.m. newscast, WISN president and general manager Jan Wade told me.
“We don’t want to abandon something that’s a strength for us,” Wade told me.
The 10:30 segment of the Channel 12 late news actually attracts the highest household ratings in its time slot against “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on WTMJ-TV (Channel 4), “The Late Show with David Letterman” on WDJT-TV (Channel 58) and “Seinfeld” on WITI-TV (Channel 6). The WISN news ranked second to “Seinfeld” in the key 25-to-54-year-old demographic.
11:00PM is better than midnight.
