Ed Flynn and Lindsey Graham (Video)

Ed Flynn goes to Washington.

Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn went to DC to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee. He advocated banning some guns.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Testifying at a U.S. Senate hearing Wednesday, Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn called on Congress to pass a ban on new sales of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines to civilians, saying “our nation’s cities are enduring slow-motion mass murder every single year.”

Flynn was one of several witnesses to appear at the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing on “The Assault Weapons Ban of 2013,” a bill authored by Democrat Dianne Feinstein of California.

Flynn cited Milwaukee crime data and invoked specific incidents in the city in recent years involving the use of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. He said that in less than three years, seven of his officers were shot with assault rifles or semi-automatic weapons.

"How many people have to get murdered in a mass murder for it to be enough?" Flynn said toward the end of his testimony, invoking the Newtown, Conn., massacre in December.

"Is 20 babies enough to say these implements of murder should not be distributed? That's what we're asking!" Flynn said in comments that drew applause from those in the audience who were there to support the bill. Flynn also engaged in some pointed exchanges with at least one Republican on the panel, South Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham.

...When Graham, the South Carolina Republican, asked Flynn how many cases he had pursued against people who failed background checks, Flynn responded sharply:

“We don’t make those cases. We have priorities. We have gun cases. We make 2,000 gun cases a year … We’re trying to prevent the wrong people from buying guns,” Flynn said. “We don’t chase paper, we chase armed criminals.”
Flynn was testy, like he was channeling his inner Tom Barrett (failure as mayor of Milwaukee and 3-time loser to be governor of Wisconsin).

I know this is just a clip but Flynn doesn't come off like a composed, confident expert on the matter.

In this video, it seemed that Flynn would have preferred to blow a vuvuzela than address Graham's point.

Flynn's obviously scripted sound bite, "We don't chase paper, we chase armed criminals," appeared to be his big line meant to counter background checks.

It fell flat as Graham questioned him in a calm, logical manner.

So Flynn admits that "paper," meaning background checks, are ineffective? He appears to argue that they're irrelevant, that he doesn't care about them. But then, he turns around and insists, "We're trying to prevent the wrong people from buying guns."

OK, how do we determine the "wrong people"?

I guess Flynn is saying that ALL citizens are "wrong people" when it comes to particular weapons.

Chief Flynn is flailing here, like a true Leftist, substituting alleged passion for reason.

Jeanine Tracy: 'Punk Ass Bitch' (Video)

A "Victory Vigil" was held for Jeanine Tracy on Tuesday.

From FOX6 News:

First he was fired, then reinstated. Now, MPD Officer Richard Schoen has been permanently discharged following a contentious meeting held by Milwaukee’s Fire and Police Commission on Tuesday morning, December 11th. On Tuesday night, the woman at the center of the debate, Jeanine Tracy, thanked supporters for helping overturn the FPC’s decision.

Schoen was fired by Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn, after he was seen on dashcam video punching Tracy, then dragging her out of a squad car by her hair in an MPD garage. Schoen told the Commission panel he was afraid Tracy would bite him or spit on him. Chief Flynn told the panel Schoen lost control.

After the Commission’s unanimous decision to remove Schoen from the force on Tuesday morning, Tracy told FOX6 News she feels justice has been served. However, she said she couldn’t say whether she feels safer with Schoen off the force.

Tracy’s supporters celebrated a small victory on Tuesday night with a “Victory Vigil” near Milwaukee’s City Hall.

“This sends a big message. It’s a positive message,” organizer Tracey Dent said.

The battle that began with dashcam video showing Schoen punching Tracy in the back of a squad car, ended outside City Hall, as Tracy thanked those who fought for Schoen’s discharge.

“It seems like it made people open their eyes, their minds and their hearts to the situation that’s been taking place,” Tracy said.

Tracy said Schoen’s removal from the force doesn’t necessarily make her feel safer.

“I feel a little safer, but I don’t know if he have friends who work for him. I don’t know if I’m safe or whatever. I think it’s gonna take a little bit more for me to kinda feel better,” Tracy said.

Tracy said she’s just focused on moving forward.

Watching the FOX6 story, one gets the feeling that Tracy is a saint.

While NO CITIZEN SHOULD BE ABUSED BY A POLICE OFFICER AS TRACY WAS, let's not rewrite history. Let's be realisitc.

There seems to be an effort by the media to give Tracy an extreme makeover.

Here's a photo of Tracy celebrating the decision to remove Schoen from the Milwaukee police force:

Heartwarming, isn't it?

From Sykes Writes:

In case you haven't watched it, watch the same woman's behavior while in police custody: spitting, kicking, swearing, screaming at the officers "Punk ass bitch! Punk ass motherf*cking white bitches!"

At one point she tells her daughter to stop cooperating with the officers. "You ain't gotta talk to them. You a minor. F*ck them!"

She repeatedly yells at the officer: "Shut up, bitch!"

"You will be hearing about this. Shut up bitch. Shut the f*ck up. You punk ass bitch."
Watch Jeanine Tracy. Listen to her. She's not a hero.

I have never spit at another person in my life. NEVER. I most definitely have been treated unjustly. I have been extremely angry, but I have never behaved like that.

Then again, I've never been arrested. Maybe I shouldn't judge.

Ed Flynn Interview (Video)

TMJ4's Carole Meekins interviewed Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn.

They discussed the strip search scandal and the Derek Williams case. They discuss the demand for Flynn's resignation by some in Milwaukee's African American community.

Here's raw video:

Flynn relays compassion and understanding. He does not come off as an arrogant, uncaring man. He explains his actions and he takes responsibility for them.

I don't get why Flynn is being targeted by some in the community and by outlets like the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. It's such a weird campaign of personal destruction. It's misdirected. It's unfair.

It ticks me off that Tom Barrett, cowering mayor of Milwaukee, is letting Flynn take so much heat without offering more support.

Barrett is taking cover rather than being a leader.

It would be a great loss for the steadily decaying city of Milwaukee if Flynn were to leave.

I hate to think of how bad things would be without his leadership.

Certainly, there are cases of misconduct and abuse by police officers. Some are horrific. Some are criminal. Justice must be done in those cases. But, it's wrong to condemn the entire department and the Chief because of the actions of a few.

What really poses a threat to people living in Milwaukee?

It's not the police department. Flynn doesn't pose a danger to any community in the city. The economic conditions in Milwaukee, unemployment through the roof and the ensuing poverty, are much more threatening to the overall quality of life for all.

Failing schools are a far greater menace than anything done or not done by the MPD.

It makes more sense to me to demand jobs rather than Flynn's resignation.

Options other than a life of dependency on government or a life of crime are needed. All the energy being put into this witch hunt could be channeled into constructive efforts to better the community.

Maybe that's why the media are obsessing on Flynn now. It deflects attention away from the economic misery in Obama's America, specifically Milwaukee.

The Leftists don't want to talk about the real problems before the election.

Ed Flynn is the local version of Big Bird.

MPD - Death Threats

Some Milwaukee citizens have declared war on the Milwaukee Police Department.

Unbelievable.

From TMJ4:

Threats against Milwaukee police officers have the Milwaukee Police Department making changes.

It involves the controversial case of a man, Derek Williams, who died in police custody last year.

Sources close to the department say Milwaukee's Police Department banned one-man squads for the officers' protection.

This comes as parts of the Milwaukee community are reaching a breaking point with the police department. Some groups have called for Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn's resignation, others are going beyond that.

"I asked a guy the other day, he said... 'If we take one of them, they're gonna know what we're talking about,'" described community activist Tory Lowe.

Death threats have reportedly pushed Milwaukee's Police Department to assign two officers to every squad car.

"Occupy the Hood" organizer Khalil Coleman understands the frustration. He worries things may escalate if something isn't done soon.

"We hope that we can keep a peaceful city, but in order for us to do that, we have to begin to address these critical issues," says Coleman.

...A spokeswoman for Milwaukee's Police Department says that the department cannot and will not discuss deployment strategies.
Video:

Death threats. Disgusting.

I hope liberal media outlets, like the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, are proud of their role in inciting this insanity.

The Journal Sentinel has been relentless in slamming the Milwaukee Police Department and Police Chief Ed Flynn.

Its witch hunt now appears to be resulting in a truly dangerous situation for Milwaukee police officers.

Justice for Derek Williams is not achieved by threatening the lives of police officers.

Why doesn't Tom Barrett meet with these "community leaders"? Now is the time for leadership.

I supposed he's just been too busy campaigning against Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan with Big Bird.
