Jim Lehrer isn't the moderator of the first presidential debate.
He's a participant.
Lehrer is actually debating Mitt Romney. He keeps interrupting Romney but he lets Obama drone on and on.
I suspect Lehrer wouldn't be so vigorously debating Romney if he felt Obama was on top of his game.
